Beating the Belt: a weight loss success story.

Today I have just a brief note for everyone. I have said it many times. Success can be measured in a multitude of ways. And if someone who is trying to lose weight is going to stay sane, we best get used to looking for those moments and duly celebrate them!  Today, we’re going to celebrate!

The Belt

Years ago, from a catalog, I bought this really neat, braided leather belt.  I thought to use it with business slacks and jeans and it would provide a modicum of style with great utility.  However, when I got the belt it was just a tiny bit too small for me.  So it sat in my dresser with me thinking “some day I will lose a little weight and be able to use that belt!”

Well, I never got a chance to use that belt. At first, it was because I never was serious about losing the weight. I was too busy with life and work and never found it within myself to even think about what it would take to effect change. However, eventually I reached a point where I needed to make that change for me. Within the first few months of healthy eating and exercise, I blew right past that belt and it never saw a day’s worth of service!

Today, that belt is far too large for me to even contemplate using it!   So how large is it now?  Well …I think the picture tells the story here.  My friend, Tammey Skinaway, was kind enough to pose with me and show just how far I have come.  It’s a great reminder!  Not only does that belt go around both of us – there is plenty left over!!  I can’t help but smile.  It’s moments like this where I feel my progress…and it is fulfilling!
